The Minister of Public Security, Avi Dicter, met with the Director of the U.S. Marshals Service, John Clark, while on an official visit to the United States. "There is great importance in the implementation of a witness protection program to the improvement of law enforcement" said Director Clark after deciding with Minister Dicter on enhancing the cooperation between the U.S. Marshals Service and the Israel Police.
"When organized crime families, Jewish, Arab, or from any other background, run wild, motivated only by money, the Israel Police must use methods that situate them one step ahead of the criminals. One of those methods is the witness protection program". That was the message Minister Dicter relayed during the meeting with Director Clark while surveying the new witness protection authority the Ministry of Public Security is creating as part of its war against organized crime in Israel.
Director Clark showed greatinterest in the Israel Witness Protection Authority. "We have absolute trust in the Israeli law enforcement system" he said. "It is our honor to host the Israeli delegation in our guidance center and to develop a working relationship with the Ministry of Public Security and the Israel Police". During the meeting, Minister Dicter heard a briefing on the American Witness Protection Program and set study methods for the Ministry, Israel Police and the Israel Prison Service. Minister Dicter thanked Director Clark and the United States Marshals Service for their cooperation and expressed his wishes for a fruitful work relationship in the future.
Minister Dicter was accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry of Public Security, Rani Falk, and the Israel Police Attache in the United States, Commander Miki Levi.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director of the Marshals Service, Bob Trono; the Chief of Staff, Chirs Dudley; the Assistant Director for Witness Security and Prisoner Operations, Sylvester Jones; and Assistant Director for Judicial Security, Bob Finan.
