The Minister of Public Security, Avi Dicter, is continuing his visits to northern cities in light of the security situation. Minister Dicter visited a number of cities which have suffered casualties and physical damage from Hezbollah rockets. "The security situation is not easy" said the Minister, "but the togetherness the citizens of Israel are demonstrating eases the pain".
Minister Dicter stated that the Israel Defense Force does not have the privilege of a "blank check" for the timelines of its operations, but as long as the public opinion feels that the operations are executed with consideration and reason, he will support the course of action. The Minister continued and said that even in his prior position as the Director of the Israel Security Agency (Shabak), he had mornings in which he woke up with a feeling of helplessness after a terrorist attack. However, the Israeli security forces are strong and determined and don't allow themselves to feel helpless.
When referring to the ongoing warfare up north, Minister Dicter said that Israel has no intention in entering a war of attrition and will carry out operations that will lead only to attrition on the Lebanese side. "The fact that we still haven't reached our main objective, stopping the launching of rockets on Israel, does not mean we will not find a solution in the future" said the Minister.
Minister Dicter emphasized the fact that Israel has clear objectives in regards to the security situation on the northern border and warfare is only a tool used to reach the objectives. "It is the obligation of the political echelon to examine other tools to fulfill the same goals" said the Minister.
"There are no limitations on the Israel Defense Force's actions" concluded the Minister "this freedom is not incide ntal. As long as Israel's objectives are not reached in other ways, the IDF will continue its warfare".
