Public Attitudes towards the Israeli Police, 2007
12/6/08
In accordance to perennial work plan of the Bureau of the Chief Scientist in the Minister of Public Security, and as part of a series of research papers conducted on this subject, a survey was conducted titled: "Public Attitudes Towards the Israeli Police, 2007"
The Survey was conducted by Smith Consulting and Research Inc. and was lead by Mr. Rafi Smith and Mrs. Hagit Yehzkel.

The Minister of Public Security, Avi Dicter, read the report and instructed the Commissioner of the Israel Police, Inspector General David Cohen, to raise the primary issues in the report during the upcoming meetings with the top brass of the Israel Police, and to return to him as soon as possible with the required conclusions.

Minister Dicter said that despite the low estimation of that general public towards the Israel Police, there has been a dramatic decrease in crime during 2008, including car theft and break-ins, in addition to in substantial increase in drug detection and the lowest number of road accident casualties in the past 40 years.  "The Israel Police has reached great achievements and by that will improve its image. My hope is that the continuous decrease in crime will bring a continuous increase in the public's attitude towards the police" said Minister Dicter. "The police perennial work plan from 2008 through 2012 which was authorized by me will show the police in a much more positive light. The Israel Police is our police".

The full research project is in Hebrew. Currently, only the executive summary has been translated to English.
